Children with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disabilities deserve the best possible care. Our Pediatric Neurodevelopment team provides that care, with the goal of giving kids the chance they need to fully participate in their daily lives.

We work with partners in the community and in other pediatric specialties to provide coordinated medical care for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. We help kids who are under age 6 with problems such as:

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Developmental delays
  • Speech concerns

Our goal is to give parents and other caregivers a better understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses so you can help them interact with others and get the most out of life.

We do not provide mental health evaluations or care for children or adolescents with suicidal or homicidal behaviors. For these concerns, please contact Anchorage Community Mental Health Services. Their 24-hour crisis line is 907-563-3200.

During your first visit, we’ll talk with you and your child to understand their medical and developmental history. Depending on the complexity of your child’s condition, we may schedule more appointments for some of the following assessments:

  • Detailed physical neurologic examination
  • Developmental assessments of speech, language, motor and cognitive abilities
  • Consultations with other providers regarding medical tests such as imaging, lab work and EEG
  • Play assessment

Our goal is to create a developmental evaluation for your child, which may require multiple visits with us. The evaluation will give us the information we need to refer your child for specific therapies and to coordinate their care with schools, medical providers and early intervention specialists. We may also prescribe and manage medication for your child as needed.

You and your child may see some of these caregivers:

  • Certified medical assistant
  • Clinical psychologist
  • Nurse case manager
  • Occupational therapist
  • Speech pathologist
